Discursive and Structural Production of Domestic Violence: Integrating Positioning and Role Theory

This study was aimed at addressing the limitation of a purely discursive approach to understanding domestic violence by proposing an integration of discursive and structural analyses using positioning theory and role theory. It also sought to extend the application of positioning theory to heterosexual relationships, where gender power relations were assumed.
