IPC welcomes new administrators, new projects for Schoolyear 2010-2011
IPC director Czarina Saloma-Akpedonu is currently on sabbatical leave from June 2010 until May 2011. Dr. Ma. Elizabeth J. Macapagal will serve as acting director during this period. Dr. Macapagal is associate professor of the Department of Psychology and also research coordinator of the School of Social Sciences. She obtained her MA in Social Psychology from the Claremont Graduate University and her PhD in Social Psychology from the Ateneo de Manila University. IPC also welcomes a new Associate Director for Research in the person of Ma. Elissa Jayme-Lao. Ms. Lao is a faculty member of the Department of Political Science with a Masters in International Science from the University of the Philippines-Diliman and finishing her PhD in Public Administration from the National College of Public Administration and Governance, UP- Diliman. Her research interests are in International Relations, Electoral Politics, Political Parties, Philippine Foreign Policy, and Migration.
IPC also began three new projects this June. The first is an institutional project on “Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Quezon City Urban Poor Communities: A Study of Community-Based Strategies and Resources” with Cynthia Veneracion as project director. The other two projects are funded by UNICEF: “Assessing and Monitoring Child Friendly Cities and Communities: The Philippine Experience” with Angela Desiree Aguirre as project director and “Baseline Research of UNICEF’s Anti-Bullying Program” with Melissa Macapagal and Liane Alampay as project directors.
