Dr. Ma. Elissa Jayme-Lao is an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Ateneo Department of Political Science with a Masters in International Studies (MIS) from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. She earned her DPA (Doctor of Public Administration) from the National College of Public Administration and Governance, UP-Diliman. Her research interests are in International Relations, Electoral Politics, Political Parties, Philippine Foreign Policy, and Migration.
Associate Director for Research
Dr. Niño Leviste earned his MS in Social Development at the Ateneo de Manila University, and his PhD in Sociology from the National University of Singapore. An Assistant Professor at the Ateneo Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Dr. Leviste specializes in political sociology, sociology of education, social reproduction in education and academic differentiation, and democratization in Southeast Asia (special focus on the Philippines and Singapore).
Dr. Racelis (formerly Hollnsteiner) is former IPC Director, as well as Senior Professorial Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Ateneo de Manila University. She has published extensively in the areas of poverty and well-being, urbanization, community organizing and people's empowerment, civil society, gender, children and youth, education, and socio-cultural change. Her close interaction with community based NGOs and People's Organizations over many years and her service on several local and international NGO boards has given her the informal title of "activist social scientist." In 1975, De La Salle University awarded her a Doctorate in the Social Sciences, honoris causa, while the Ateneo de Manila University conferred on her the doctorate in humanities, honoris causa, in 2003. In 2004, the Consuelo Foundation gave her the Distinguished Humanitarian Service Award.
