IPC Research Internship Program for Local Students

The Institute of Philippine Culture (IPC), as a research training institution, is dedicated to providing young researchers in the social sciences with opportunities to do field research with senior research directors in areas of their specialization such as child rights, urban development and informal settlements, and barangay governance. This interface gives them a chance to contribute to the IPC's output and gain valuable field and writing experience toward a career in research, social development and cultural heritage preservation.

This Program is open to all undergraduate Social Science students in Philippine Universities seeking experience as part of a research team.  Prospective interns must be willing to work under the supervision of an IPC Project Director for two months (Batch 1: April - May 2018; Batch 2: June - July 2018) in communities within Metro Manila and nearby provinces. A monthly stipend of Php 5,000 will be provided per intern for the duration of the internship.

Requirements:

  • Accomplished IPC Research Internship form

  • Letter of Recommendation from Social Science Research Professor or Department Chair

  • Completion of at least one basic course in Social Science Research

IPC Postdoctoral Fellowship Research Award

The initiative provides early career scholars the support and congenial environment to turn their PhD dissertations into publicly accessible publications, as well as opportunities to do research in the School of Social Sciences, Ateneo de Manila University.

It offers a six- to eight-month research subsidy that includes airfare, accommodation, and allowance. Publication and public presentation of research findings, as well as contributions to current research and teaching agendas in the Ateneo de Manila University, are required for the program. The fellowship period will cover January 2018 until September 2018. Application period is from 15 September 2017 to 31 December 2017.

    • Workplan/Timetable for the duration of the fellowship

    • Letter of Recommendation from dissertation supervisor

    • Copy of Dissertation

    • Copy of PhD diploma or academic certificate indicating exact date of grant of PhD degree

    • Title and abstract of proposed output

IPC Award for Best Global Research About the Philippines

The IPC Award for Best Global Research about the Philippines recognizes pathbreaking work in Philippine studies that has a clear and urgent message about the changing conditions defining Philippine society and culture as cited in the context of a vastly changed regional and world landscape. The study should also provide a new theoretical direction to further understand these conditions as its contribution to the growth of Philippine studies.

The awardee would also receive a cash prize and a commissioned trophy. Expenses for their airfare and accommodation for the awarding ceremony and their public lecture on the winning work would also be covered.
