Ateneo’s Institute of Philippine Culture is partnering with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the ASEAN – Network on Drugs, Diagnostics, Vaccines, and Traditional Medicines Innovation (ASEAN-NDI) to host in October 2017 a conference entitled “Learning Interaction on eHealth Technologies in ASEAN.” This will be part of the official ASEAN Events on the Occasion of the 2017 Philippine Hosting of the ASEAN and ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology (COST).
The occasion will also showcase the ongoing HATID ASEAN (Health Initiatives for Informed Decision-making in the Southeast Asian Nations) project. This is a regional initiative of ASEAN NDI for the ASEAN COST.
The project aims to establish a convergence platform for the sharing of information and strategies on Information Communication Technology (ICT) for Health in the ASEAN.
The HATID ASEAN is one of a series of convergence activities on health-related initiatives have been implemented by the Institute of Philippine Culture (IPC) of the Ateneo de Manila University (Ateneo), in partnership with the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) of the DOST.
First is the eHealth TABLET (Technology Assisted Boards for LGU Efficiency and Transparency) for Informed Decision-Making of Local Government Units or eHATID LGU. The project provides Rural Health Units (RHUs) in the Philippines with a cloud-based solution for migrating patient medical records into Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) using a customized software installed in computer tablets.
Part of the problem that the project addresses is the decision-making process at the LGU level and the need for real-time processing of data captured from provider facilities, and immediate submission of transactions to national data centers.
The eHATID LGU Project is aligned with the Philippine’s Department of Health (DOH)’s vision of eHEALTH 2020 and the Philippine Health Agenda, which aims for marked improvements in health services in the context of public health leveraged with Information Technology.
The eHATID LGU is the anchor project of the Philippines for the ASEAN Project HATID.
As a whole, HATID ASEAN aims to establish a convergence platform for the sharing of information and strategies on Information Communication Technology (ICT) for Health in the ASEAN. In line with this, partnerships have been established with the College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University at Bangkok, Thailand, and the National Institute of Health Research and Development, Ministry of Health in Jakarta Indonesia.
